Veil Parasol Temple

Wedding Blessing

A Buddhist blessing ceremony for couples beginning married life.

THE BLESSING

Two lives, one path

The ceremony is offered before the Buddhas, the lineage, and the protectors. It accompanies — but does not replace — the civil registration. The temple master meets with the couple beforehand to understand their wishes and the religious backgrounds of their families.

WHAT WE OFFER

The ceremony takes place in the shrine hall before the main altar, with family and close friends welcome. It includes the offering of flowers and lamps, the recitation of mantra and sutra, the formal blessing of the couple, and the dedication of merit.

Couples may submit the names of parents and family elders to be included in the dedication — for harmony in their household, for the wisdom to navigate difficulty, and for the merit accumulated through their shared practice.

Marriage carried with sincerity becomes itself a vehicle for awakening — a daily practice of patience, generosity, and the softening of self-grasping.
