Treasure God Light

A lamp offered to the wealth-bestowing deities — for prosperity grounded in virtue.

THE OFFERING

The Treasure God Light is offered in connection with the wealth-bestowing deities of the Vajrayana tradition — most often the five forms of Jambhala and other deities whose function is the increase of resources, livelihood, and the conditions for virtuous activity.

In the Buddhist understanding, wealth is not opposed to spiritual practice. It is a karmic fruit and also a tool — the resources that allow generosity, family support, study, retreat, and the patronage of the Dharma.

TEMPLE HALL SPONSORSHIP

Sponsoring the construction or renovation of a temple hall and sacred images generates boundless merit with benefits both in this life and beyond. The Lotus Sutra teaches that those who devotedly sponsor the building of temples and buddha halls receive the following ten great merits:

1. Past negative karma is lightened or eliminated. 2. Devas protect you, turning misfortune into good fortune. 3. Obstacles are removed, freeing you from karmic retribution. 4. Evil spirits cannot harm you. 5. You are freed from afflictions and ignorance. 6. Abundant resources and lasting blessings. 7. Your words and actions bring joy to humans and devas. 8. Merit and wisdom both increase. 9. A favourable rebirth with dignified appearance and natural virtue. 10. Rebirth in a land where the Dharma is taught, swiftly attaining buddhahood.
